Loaves and Fishes Tasmania – Devonport
Supporting a facility built to serve the community
Degree C was engaged to deliver specialised refrigeration and mechanical services for the Loaves and Fishes Tasmania facility in Devonport.
With the facility supporting food preparation, storage and distribution, reliable temperature control, ventilation and refrigeration are critical to its day-to-day operation.
Our Refrigeration and Mechanical teams delivered a range of systems throughout the facility, designed to support food safety, operational requirements and comfortable internal conditions.
Refrigeration
Our Refrigeration team installed six refrigeration systems across key food preparation and storage areas of the facility.
The scope included refrigeration for the packing room, kitchen cool room and blast chiller, along with two additional cool rooms and a large freezer room.
These systems provide the controlled environments required for the safe handling, preparation and storage of food throughout the facility.

Mechanical Services
Degree C's Mechanical team delivered the air conditioning, ventilation, exhaust and dehumidification systems across the Ground Floor and Lower Ground Floor.
The installation was designed to maintain suitable internal conditions, provide fresh air to occupied areas and effectively manage heat, moisture, cooking odours and other airborne contaminants.
Ground Floor
Mechanical services on the Ground Floor included a kitchen exhaust hood and roof-mounted exhaust fan to capture and remove heat, grease-laden vapours and cooking odours.
A roof-mounted supply air fan provides replacement air to the kitchen, while a dedicated dishwasher exhaust system removes the additional heat and moisture generated during operation.
Heating and cooling is provided by two wall-mounted air conditioning units and two ceiling cassette units throughout the associated areas.
Mechanical exhaust ventilation was also installed to service the toilet amenities.
Lower Ground Floor
On the Lower Ground Floor, a dedicated dehumidification system was installed to manage excess moisture and maintain appropriate conditions within the space.
A fresh air fan provides mechanical outside air ventilation, with an additional exhaust system servicing the toilet amenities.
A coordinated approach
With both Degree C's Refrigeration and Mechanical teams involved in the project, we were able to deliver an integrated range of services tailored to the operational needs of the facility.
From large-scale cold storage and blast chilling through to kitchen ventilation, air conditioning and humidity control, the completed installation supports the different environments required throughout Loaves and Fishes Tasmania's Devonport facility.
Degree C is proud to have contributed to a facility that plays an important role in supporting communities across Tasmania.
