FIRE PROTECTION APPRENTICESHIP

A Certificate III in Fire Protection (Sprinkler Fitting) is a 4-year apprenticeship that teaches you how to install, test and maintain fire sprinkler and hydrant systems that protect lives, property and critical infrastructure.

You’ll gain hands-on skills working with pipework, pumps, valves and sprinkler systems across commercial, industrial and residential projects.

The value of projects can range from small installations through to multi-million-dollar systems.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

• Installing and maintaining fire sprinkler systems, hydrants, hose reels and other fire protection equipment.

• Working with steel, copper and plastic pipework, ranging from 15mm to 150mm depending on system size.

• Setting out, assembling and installing pipework, fittings, valves and sprinkler heads to Australian Standards.

• Pressure testing, flushing and commissioning systems to ensure they operate safely and reliably.

• Maintaining and inspecting systems, including routine servicing, fault finding and breakdown repairs.

• Reading plans, schematics and specifications to install systems correctly the first time.

• Working on a variety of sites – commercial buildings, hospitals, schools, warehouses, and high-rises.

WORK EXPERIENCE

We offer work experience opportunities for school students who are interested in getting hands-on, on-the-job experience within our team. This is a great chance to step inside the industry and see what a career in the trades is really like.
