Mechanical Plumbing APPRENTICESHIP
An apprenticeship in Mechanical Services, Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) plumbing is a Certificate III, a 4-year undertaking that gives you the skills to install, service and maintain the systems that keep Tasmania’s homes, businesses and major facilities comfortable, safe and efficient.
The value of projects can range from small installations through to multi-million-dollar projects.
At Degree C, you won’t just learn HVAC, you’ll gain experience across six streams of plumbing, setting you up with one of the broadest and most future-proof qualifications in the trade.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
• Installing and maintaining air conditioning, ventilation and ducting systems across a wide range of commercial, residential and industrial sites.
• Working with copper, stainless steel, galvanised steel, sheet metal and PVC piping, ranging from 6mm to 300mm depending on system size.
• Performing gas installation work, from common fuel gases for heating and cooking through to specialised medical-grade gases used in hospitals and laboratories.
• Using a wide range of hand and battery tools, along with electronic testing and fault-finding equipment for installation, repairs and breakdown work.
• Our apprentices work everywhere; homes, high-rises, hospitals, schools, hotels, supermarkets, shops, factories and major industrial sites - making every day diverse, dynamic and genuinely exciting.
WORK EXPERIENCE
We offer work experience opportunities for school students who are interested in getting hands-on, on-the-job experience within our team. This is a great chance to step inside the industry and see what a career in the trades is really like.
