For more than 60 years, Degree C has been delivering reliable, innovative and technically advanced engineering solutions across Tasmania. What began as a small industrial refrigeration business has grown into the state’s largest multi-discipline mechanical, electrical and refrigeration contractor, trusted by industry, government and communities statewide.
Proudly Tasmanian-owned and operated, Degree C combines deep local knowledge with a diverse, highly skilled workforce to deliver end-to-end solutions; from design and fabrication through to installation, commissioning and long-term service.

Our Story
Degree C’s story began over six decades ago under the name W&S, operating from a small office on Elizabeth Street in Devonport. Founded with a strong focus on industrial refrigeration, the business employed local people and built a reputation for quality workmanship, reliability and practical problem-solving.
As opportunities emerged and industries evolved, so did we.
Growth saw the business expand into mechanical contracting and service work, followed by the opening of a Hobart office in 1990 and a Launceston office in 2000, establishing a truly statewide footprint. In 2007, Degree C further diversified, branching into electrical services, strengthening our ability to deliver fully integrated solutions.
Today, Degree C operates across Tasmania with offices in Ulverstone, Hobart and Launceston, supporting major industries including food production, agriculture, aquaculture, manufacturing, health, commercial construction and residential customers.

We operate across the residential sector, specialising in heating, cooling, and solar installations; the commercial sector, delivering large and complex projects in HVAC, fire detection, security, and electrical systems; and the industrial sector, where we provide electrical and instrumentation systems, industrial refrigeration plants, and complete metal fabrication projects from design through to manufacture and installation tailored to each client’s needs.
