These Rainbow High Efficiency Particulate Arrestance (HEPA) ventilators are designed to filter air down to a sub-micron level while patients are being operated on.

The filters are still to be installed and commissioned by Rainbow Filters .

This equipment is installed in one of the 6 new state-of-the-art operating theatres that are part of the Calvary Hospital refurbishment project.

It is critical a curtain of clean air is blown down over the patient to prevent any contamination or bacteria entering the body during surgery.

The air is then drawn back up through the corner sections of the ventilator. This equipment was installed by Degree C Hobart’s Mechanical Services team headed up by Foreman Dean Weeding and Electrical Foreman Wade Wall.

There is no job too complex for the Degree C Mechanical Services and Electrical teams.

Recently Degree C's Fabrication division purchased a spiral duct making machine. It's a little rough and ready, and it's certainly not pretty, but it will get the job done!

Fabrication Manager Tim Smith said it offers the division an increased capability.

"We have a bit of work to do to get it operating optimally, but we are excited about the increased capability this machine offers us. It means we will be able to make the spiral ducting we need for projects, rather than source them from other suppliers," Mr Smith said.

Degree C is now one of a small handful of businesses in Tasmania which can fabricate spiral ducting.
