Forest Hill Farm, situated on Tasmania’s North West Coast, produces a large variety of certified organic produce including carrots, onions, potatoes, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage, garlic and pumpkins as well as grains, cattle and sheep.
The Forest Hill team identified a need for a major Hydro-Cooler to assist cool freshly harvested produce to maximise shelf life. Having seen Hydro-Coolers Degree C purpose-built for another North West Coast farm, Forest Hill contacted Degree C to discuss a similar product to suit their needs.
Using the specialist skills of Degree C carpenters, steel fabricators, plumbers and refrigeration mechanics, the Degree C team designed and manufactured in just 4 weeks a large Hydro-Cooler capable of handling 6 x ½ tonne bins or 4 x 1 tonne bins. Product typically goes into the Hydro-Cooler at 18 degrees C, where it is cooled to ~3 degrees C. The Hydro-Cooler operates using ozone friendly R404 A Refrigerant, and has been a major asset to the Forest Hill production line.
