Botanical Resources – Refrigeration Plant Design and Installation

Botanical Resources Australia (BRA) produces more than 45% of the world’s pyrethrum from 3,000 hectares of crop, most of which is grown and processed in Tasmania.  In order to meet the significant and ever increasing demand for its product, BRA is constantly looking for methods to improve the efficiency of its processing technologies.  This recently included the introduction of a leading-edge technology solvent extraction and CO2 refining process, not present anywhere else in the world outside South Africa.

In order to introduce the solvent extraction process, BRA required a sophisticated system to heat and cool the CO2 involved.  Given Degree C’s reputation as Tasmania’s leading purpose built heating and cooling solutions specialist, BRA approached Degree C to design and install a suitable system for them.

Degree C’s team of highly skilled and innovative refrigeration mechanics, steel fabricators, welders and sheet metal workers identified a way to design and deliver a Refrigerant Plant perfectly suited to BRA’s Solvent Extraction Needs.

Having established a close working relationship with BRA, Degree C is committed to continuing to assist this major Tasmanian employer design and develop innovative and effective processing strategies.
