Degree C is committed to a safe, healthy and productive workplace and recognises that the inappropriate use of alcohol and other drugs can have a detrimental effect on individuals, the company and on company services. Alcohol and other drug use, both legal and illegal, may contribute to health and safety risks, workplace accidents and poor work performance.
This policy contains Degree C ’s mandatory requirements for all employees and sub-contractors relating to drug and alcohol use, as well as disciplinary actions that will result from non-compliance.
Smoking is not permitted on company work sites within buildings and enclosed areas or within company vehicles. Smoking in open areas is only permitted in designated locations and subject at all times to the elimination of any possible risk of the inhalation of passive smoke by non-smokers.
Employees or sub-contractors on site who are taking prescribed medication or over the counter medication which may affect their judgement in any way and which could affect the safety of that person or any other person at the workplace must notify their supervisor or manager prior to commencing work.
Any employee or sub-contractor found to be in contravention of the Degree C's Fit for Work Procedure will be subjected to the company’s disciplinary procedures. Illegal drugs are expressly prohibited at company worksites and company vehicles. All employees, sub-contractors or visitors must not have a blood alcohol content exceeding 0.03%.
No employee under the age of 18 years shall be provided alcohol at company organised social functions.
Any employee who considers that they have a drug or alcohol problem is encouraged to seek confidential advice and assistance through our Employee Assistance Program or by contacting the Systems Manager.
