Degree C was contracted to conduct supply and installations of air-handling units, chillers, gas-fired boilers and ultra-clean ventilation HEPA terminals to provide sterile air to the operating theatres at Calvary Hospital.

The most vital of these systems is the Rainbow High Efficiency Particulate Arrestance (HEPA) ventilators.

The HEPA ventilators are designed to filter air down to a sub-micron level while patients are being operated on.

This equipment is installed in one of the 6 new state-of-the-art operating theatres that are part of the Calvary Hospital refurbishment project.

It is critical a curtain of clean air is blown down over the patient to prevent any contamination or bacteria entering the body during surgery.

The air is then drawn back up through the corner sections of the ventilator.

This equipment was installed by Degree C Hobart’s Mechanical Services team headed up by Foreman Dean Weeding and Electrical Foreman Wade Wall.
